Dinah Kauffmann

Education

I was educated in the French school system in the German-French border region and graduated from high school having passed the curriculum required for college entrance. Immediately after graduation, I decided to go to Germany.

Professional Experience

I have worked in Germany in various professions including industrial companies, especially in the chemical field. Among other things, I was active in the purchase and sale of chemical products for the company SIKEM GmbH in Frankfurt/Main and as export manager at the New-York Hamburger Gummi-Waaren Compagnie AG in Hamburg.

During these years I gained extensive experience, not only as it related to my original translation disciplines such as law and economics, but especially in the field of technology with a focus on: automotive industry, steel industry, mechanical engineering, aircraft construction and defense industry.

I started my own business in 1989 and have been working as a full-time translator and interpreter ever since.

Authorization / Certified Translations

In addition to my profession in 1979 I prepared for the examination at the state examination board for interpreters and translators of the Hessian Minister of Culture and on 06 December 1979 was awarded the designation of "State-certified interpreter and translator for the courts and notaries in the State of Hesse."

Anne-Martine Kauffmann M.A.

I was extremely lucky to have grown up in a bilingual environment. Born in Hamburg to a German father and a French mother, I was already interpreting for both parents at the age of two. You see the world through different eyes if you are endowed with a sense of language at such a very young age. Studies show that bilingual people have different mentalities and ways of thinking, depending on which language they are currently speaking or in which culture they are living. More favorable conditions for the localization of high-quality translations probably do not exist.

Education

After graduating from high school in Lower Saxony I initially spent three years in Toulon - La Garde (southern France) and studied applied foreign languages (DE, EN, FR). After completing my bachelor’s degree, I continued my language studies with a Master of Translation Studies at the renowned University of Saarland.

Professional Experience

After successfully completing my studies, I had the opportunity to look at the translation profession "from the other side." As a translation project manager at Elopak EQS GmbH, a machine construction company in which English was the company language, I managed the global translation department and terminology database for 4 years. From 2016 to 2018 I participated in the higher level civil service training program for the Federal Police. During this time, I refreshed and reinforced my knowledge of law from the master's program significantly. The insights and experiences gained here continue to influence the way I live today and have broadened both my general knowledge and my area of special expertise.
At the beginning of 2018, I decided to return completely to my linguistic roots and to take the plunge as an independent translator from English and French into the German language.

Authorization / Certified Translations

In 2018 I became a sworn interpreter and authorized translator for the English and French languages.
